Ruffles and Scuba Floral - and Yellow Skirt Update

Oh, lovelies, I must rush. It was a very long day, terribly busy and rushed, capped by a massive WW meeting. It is nearly 8pm and I have not had dinner!
Ruffles to the rescue! I love this silvery-grey shiny shirt. SHINY.

  • Blouse - Jones New York, thrifted; first worn here in April (same necklace!) with pink
  • Skirt - Clover Canyon, consignment; purchased here last weekend for $40.95
  • Shoes - Asos, consignment; last seen here in May with green floral
  • Jacket (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn here on Tuesday with the jelly-deer

I definitely need to pin the boob buttons shut - they kept popping open at inopportune times.

First wearing of the scuba skirt (it's neoprene), and I loved it, although with all my gear on and walking at top I'm-about-to-be-late speed, the waistband rode up to my boobs! Most undignified.
I'll forgive it, since it makes my butt look so danged good!

Outerwear. Cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon. I sweated right through it, so I'm putting it in the wash as well as the blouse.
 Yay for washable things!

The stuff:
Is it blurry or is that just me? I love these shoes. I recently twigged that this is that "millennial pink" I have heard of. I think we just called this pink back in the day.

Sparkly bling!
One of the best of my thrifted necklaces. It goes with a lot.

  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Earrings - local
  • Ring - Frances Jewelers, early 60s, Dad's

Yellow skirt washing update! You may recall from yesterday's outfit here that I had splattered coffee and other things on my lovely yellow wool skirt.

It came out beautifully! I swished it around in the bathroom sink with warm water and a small gob of shampoo, then folded it and pressed the water out gently.
Just dried, not steamed
I hung it on the back of one of the chairs on our deck overnight to dry, then clipped it to the steamer, ready for de-wrinkling.
Steamed, inside and out
And voila! There we go! All stains gone, and it looks like new. I'm so awesome.

I will be back on Sunday with my weekend wrap-up, and expect much fun, as we are having a party for L's birthday on Saturday! See you then!

  2. Oh wow you look fab in your new neoprene skirt. I wonder how this would look with the grey shirt tucked in ?
In regards to the buttons, instead of pinning you can always sew the buttonholes a bit, just a stick or two, so the button stays put.

    1. It would untuck immediately, Lorena. The skirt doesn't have an actual waistband as it's a pull-on style - the material is just folded over and fused to itself. The blouse is also meant to be out (see how the bottom of it is).

Lol, although I love your suggestion, sewing is far too much effort! I could also just lose a couple of pounds... :)

  3. Love the skirt, hopefully next time you won't be in such a rush and it will stay in place! I have no patience for waistbands that travel around, haha!

Great news that the skirt worked out so well with the shampoo! I am still yet to wash my handwash pieces, the pile is growing ever larger!

    1. Yes, it probably rucked up due to rushing around. I'm relieved about the yellow skirt!

  4. Great news about the yellow skirt!

I love this skirt, too. The blouse is magnificent and the magnificent necklace is perfect with it!

    Have a great weekend.

  5. Glad you were able to save the skirt! I've bought a couple of things made from a neoprene-ish fabric and I have to admit that the extra thickness works very well for "holding things in". It can be rather warm so I consider it cold weather fabric.

    1. I know, phew! It's quite nice - this skirt isn't too thick, but yes, it might not be cool when it finally gets hot here.
