Weekend Wrap-Up: Stripes and Pants, Pink and Floral, Casual Dress, and Some Shopping

Hey, I'm back! Much gratitude and affection to all of you for your very kind comments on my weight-loss anniversary post - you all rock, in the best way!
Casting our minds all the way back to Thursday - and wishing my mom a very "Happy Birthday!"

  • Top - Zara, consignment; purchased here for $10.00
  • Pants - Banana Republic, thrifted; last seen here in February for a 70s flashback
  • Shoes - Aldo, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in April with a grey dress
  • Jacket (below) - Vero Moda, thrifted; last seen here in that exact outfit in April (here, 2nd outfit)

I built this outfit around this new-to-me top, and although I liked it, I don't think I will keep it much past this summer. I wore a black tank under it, which filled in the gaps (underarms, tummy), but it's just not a terribly versatile piece. Wear it with red, baby blue, white or black (possibly navy), and then you're done. Still, for $10.00, I'm good with that.
I also needed a skinny pair of pants to wear on Thursday night to my WW meeting so that I could pull my old jeans on over top of them.

Outerwear. It rained most of the time that I was outside, so I was glad I'd worn the hat. I also like how well it goes with the jungle print.
 I felt very chic.

The stuff:
These shoes got quite soaked, but they are still holding up pretty well for a cheap non-leather shoe.

Silver bling.
 Just simple pieces.

  • Bangle - Glee
  • Earrings - Lazy Susan's
  • Shield ring - Nine West
  • Coral ring - gift from Cindy

On Friday, L and I took Mom out for dinner after work.
An early Happy Mother's Day! Although I don't have kids, one of the people at work wished me a happy Mother's Day. "You have a whole office full of us that you "mom.""

  • Shirt - Warehouse, consignment; last seen here (4th outfit) in June 2016 over a pink dress
  • Skirt - H&M, consignment; purchased here for $9.50
  • Shoes - Wonders; first worn here with Herb Tarlek's blazer in April
  • Jacket (below) - Lazy Susan's; first worn last weekend for my shopping trip with Judy here (2nd outfit)

This skirt was deliciously swooshy and pockety - I enjoyed wearing it all day. The colours are not all that versatile, but good enough.
One of my few denim pieces is this shirt - I usually have a denim shirt every season.

With the jacket, which is rapidly becoming one of my favourite wardrobe pieces.
 I felt perfectly ladylike.

The stuff:
I love these fabulous shiny pink shoes!

Pink bling:
The necklace and earring set are one of my best vintage finds - I paid $25.00 and they are worth several hundred dollars.

  • Necklace/earrings - Sherman, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Ring - Soul Flower

We had enough people for an Ulti game this Saturday, so up bright and early, pop in my contacts, and throw on a dress.
Walking boots are needed, because my feet are always sore after running around in soccer cleats for hours.

  • Dress - Boo Radley, thrifted; first worn here in April with another pair of red boots
  • Boots - 1883 Lucchesse, consignment; last seen here in March with pleather

Not much to it! We had a fun game - I scored on a couple of really difficult catches to the cheers of my team. Lunch after, then L and I bought some snacks for board gaming that night with our friends Cat and Ross. Good times.
It was a bit sunnier, so I didn't wear a jacket. Very daring of me!

With my morning gear.
Sunglasses and my travel mug full of coffee. All ready for a game!

The stuff:
We were both exhausted by the time we walked home, so we napped for a while. Forgive the blurriness.
  • Cuff - vintage fair
  • Earrings - Lazy Susan's

Today, I was up early to head to town for groceries. L's birthday is coming so I also started shopping for his birthday.
Cloudy, sunny, windy. Better wear my favourite jacket again!

  • Top - La Vie 89, thrifted; last seen here in September 2016 with jungle and polka dots
  • Skirt - Tribal, consignment; last worn here in March with the yeti coat
  • Shoes - Born, consignment; last seen here in April for my to-the-field Ulti outfit
  • Jacket - Lazy Susan's; worn just two days ago - twice in one weekend!

No one saw me like this, but I'd wear this for a casual day.

I love that the back of the jacket has embroidery too.
I even changed to my little new-to-me Club Monaco leather purse for this outing!
I liked how the chartreuse popped with the pink and green on the jacket.

The stuff:
 Easy walking shoes.

  • Earrings - don't remember, more than 20 years old

I went to the WIN Warehouse store and the WIN Boutique. I found a few things at the former, nothing at the latter. However, shopping on Mother's Day was awesome - both stores were dead, and were offering 10% to everyone even if you weren't a mom. Gotta like that!

I found these lovely baby blue cropped cotton pants.
 They're a boyfriend cut by Talbots, and were $6.95 + 10% so $6.25.
 Deal!

I lucked out and found two pairs of shoes. I love the bright turquoise of these suede and leather flats.
They're by Aldo and were $22.95 or $20.65 with the discount.
Barely any wear. Looking forward to wearing these.

I really liked these burgundy shoes.
A lovely suede trimmed with patent leather.

A cute peep-toe and a sturdy heel.
They were only $27.95 or $25.15 with the discount.
The brand is Sofft and these were also barely worn.

Vizzini, what do you think of all of this?
"I think you should make the sun come back out, Woman."
Silly kitty, I can't control that!
"Well, you're not much use, are you?"
What a cranky guy! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Don't forget to check out "Visible Monday" at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style!

  3. LOL at Vizzini's dialogue - they don't find us much use until they want scruff/food! Your hair is looking so fabulous, I love the color and the longer length - and of course the treasures you found shopping! Wish I lived down the block from you : >

  5. Lovely outfits, Sheila. I love the denim shirt with the swooshy skirt; I think denim shirts are so versatile.

I also think the photo of you in the orangey pants and the floral jacket is so nice - you look as if you're off to conquer the world (or the charity shops!)

Your baby blue trousers are lovely and the shoes are fabulous - what great finds!

Hope you have a great week.

  6. Oh Sheila I think the striped top would look good over a turtleneck dress... or maybe worn backwards as an open jacket ? Regardless I think it looks great with the jeans.
Love all the new shoes ! I could not stop thinking about you on Saturday, I found a thrift shop and saw a black slip dress made by Ungaro for 1,00 USD and thought you'd wear it so well. But was so stupified about the find that I left it aside and another woman picked it up and bought it. I was so upset.

    1. Good idea, Lorena - however, I do loathe turtlenecks, so not likely to get a t-neck dress. I did try it back-to-front, but the darts look weird. So I probably won't wear it a lot, but yeah, with the new pale blue jeans it will look good.

Ha! Well, that is how it goes, right? No worries, my dear! Thank you for thinking of me. :)

  7. Ooooo I like those aqua shoes! The crop pants look cute too. I'm a huge fan of bomber jackets as you know and love both of these Sheila as they just add a bit of extra flair to an outfit.

  8. So many great pieces in these outfits! I can't remember if I've told you how much I like your hair longer like this, especially when you do the side swoop!

    1. Thank you! I like my hair like this too - it just seems to want to swoop off to the side, so I am just rolling with it.
