Teal and Floral Velvet - Mojo Building

It's Monday, and I am just feeling too clever for my own good! I love having my outfit already put together. So easy to get dressed!
I should do this more often. And so maybe I will. I can feel my mojo improving already.

  • Jacket - Le Chateau, consignment; last seen here way back in December 2015 with Versace "mom" jeans
  • Top - Jacob, thrifted; last worn here in December 2016 with sparkly dots
  • Skirt - Leifsdottir; last seen here in October 2016 with stripes and buckles
  • Shoes - Channi B; last worn here (2nd outfit) in my authentic 1930s outfit for Urbanite
  • Coat (below) - Samuel Dong, thrifted

And here we go.
I was quite happy with this outfit on this very busy day. Everything stayed in place, nothing spun around, snagged, untucked or annoyed me. I'm rather surprised that I haven't worn this amazing velvet embroidered jacket in over a year, but I do have a few clothes...It's a game of survival in my closet, but this gorgeous piece keeps making the cut, year after year.
This suede skirt also earned a reprieve. It didn't bother me at all (aside from the hook at the top of the zipper grabbing at my hole-y tights once).

Outerwear:
More teal! It is slightly less cold, and has been raining off and on - this is our typical winter, not that "snow" stuff. My accessories are all grey (I like to match): the hat is Liz Claiborne (thrifted), the gloves are Parkhurst (made in Canada) and the fur boa was thrifted.

The stuff:
I love these shoes. I was happy that I'd picked this outfit (and therefore these shoes) as I gave 3 separate tours of our office to all of the new people who started today.

Colourful bling:
More matchy!

  • Belt - Plum
  • Amber ring - late 90s
  • Gold/purple ring - Frances Jewellers, vintage 1960s, Dad's
  • Earrings - local

Vizzini and I had some cuddles this morning.
"I'm matching my golden eyes to this chair."
He's become quite the cuddler. Must be the cold.

  1. I really like this outfit Sheila! Great one to kick off your week of planned outfits with, and really good it was practical as well as pretty.

I adore that velvet jacket so I can see why you keep it - I think special pieces like this although they may be worn infrequently deserve a spot in the wardrobe just for how special they make you feel when they are worn! :)

    1. Thank you, Mica! It's fun to know what you're wearing and just run with it. I always have room in my closet for special pieces.

  2. So many details! How great that you were able to put together several outfits. I have been lazy to a point that I just posted January 1.

  4. Teal has become one of my favourite colours lately. The shape of the skirt is very intriguing, and of course you already know I love that coat!

  5. The embroidered velvet jacket is to die for! It is absolutely gorgeous. I was out thrifting the other day, and came across a velvet jacket with ribbon roses and pearls scattered down the lapel on one side. It was very artistic, and yet it almost looked like a 1940's style couture too. Sadly it didn't fit- but it was similar in essence to this one, and totally looked like something you would wear!

    1. Oh, I know that style - it had a resurgence about 9 years ago. I love elaborate detailing, so stuff like that really rings my bell.

  6. Very cool outfit. I admire how you can combine very distinctive pieces without any one piece overwhelming the others!

  8. It's such a good idea putting your clothes together the night before, but I can never be sure I won't have changed my mind overnight. How I feel and what the weather is like also influence what I wear. This ensemble didn't wane in its charm overnight and you look totally fab. It all works, especially the final flourish of those lacy tights, fab!

    1. It's really helpful, especially if I'm rushed in the morning. I do change things up once in a while or decide to wear something else based on the weather - having a bunch of outfits ready to go really helps, though. Thanks, Anna!

  9. Gorgeous look from head to toe. Most women would call just one of those pieces a statement and call it good, but each piece works so brilliantly, down to your shoes and outerwear.

    1. Aw, thank you, sweetheart! That's the thing with a closet full of statement pieces - it helps if they work together!
