Cream is a Colour (as is Aqua)

At least two people today asked me where my colour was. People! Cream is a colour.
I should probably cut that content tag off the cardi
Also, see this cardigan? Aqua. Yes, it's true.

  • Cardigan - Reitmans, thrifted; purchased here for $3.00
  • Top - Jones New York, vintage 90s, thrifted; purchased here for $2.60
  • Skirt - Chloe, consignment; last seen here in March with cat-bait
  • Shoes - Fugitive, thrifted; last worn here in September 2014 with fruital and leather

"I love leg. Leg...leg..."
I took great delight in the fact that this entire outfit, including shoes cost $27.10. The shoes were thrifted for $10.00 last year, and the skirt was on the clearance rack at My Sister's Closet last year for $11.50 (for a skirt by that Chloe, gettouttatown). Crazy! I think my ring cost more than that.
"Is the Man coming back?"
I wasn't hugely pleased with how all the elements of this outfit worked and played together, even thought all the colours worked. The skirt needs a slimmer top half, and the beaded top was mostly covered by the cardi. The cardi was good - good colour - but I like it better buttoned or partially buttoned. I'd give a C+ for effort.

The stuff:
The shoes are back for spring/summer. I do love the mod look of them. I liked them with the skirt, but not with the overall vibe.

Super bling:
Shiny! Shiny!

  • Bracelet - Coro, vintage 60s, Mom's
  • Ring - Stone Roses
  • Earrings - Jacob

I actually wore my crystal ring with the Uffizi Gallery as well, but forgot to take it off. It's been a long day, and now I'm off to make dinner. Burritos!

  1. Oh yum now I want burritos for dinner, haha! Shouldn't have read that while I was hungry ;)

I like that bright cardi with the cream pieces - like you said it's a lovely colour combination, even if you didn't like how the other elements of the outfit played together.

I was thrifting today and didn't see any cute cardis - I guess I have to wait until we hit the end of winter to get things like that donated, ha! I did buy some very cute and colourful tops though, as I need more plain colours in my wardrobe.

  2. We people have a tendency to get used to a certain way, don't we? I'm glad that you shake things up from time to time - for yourself and others. Cream and aqua look fresh together. I too like to mix quiet colors with brighter ones. :)

  5. Well, your colleagues (like you blog readers) have come to expect strong colour combinations from you, Sheila, so I guess cream seems a little low-key/ neutral! Even if you aren't thrilled with this outfit, I'm quite sure you'll rework each piece until it finds a more fitting partner - it's what you do so well! xxx
