Goodbye, Othello - Yellow and Purple

I held it together pretty good all day yesterday (last night was another matter, but I'm not going to go there). I used the trick of "fake it till you feel it" - I wore bright, happy colours:
I found this gorgeous skirt in a consignment shop a couple of weeks ago. It was about $30. I love all the colours in it, and the chrysanthemum pattern.
It has a slit at the back; it's actually a hidden zipper, so you can adjust the height of the slit. It's by Vivienne Tam, and the quality is just awesome.

The stuff:
I pulled the purple out of one of the chrysanthemum colours, and did the same with the yellow, of course.

I wore my heart necklace, and Dad's ring.
I wore large pearl dome studs (forgot to put them in the above pictures).

Yesterday morning, I took the last picture of Othello:
Goodbye, sweet little buddy. You were the best kitty ever.

Cardigan (no label, consignment), cami (Plum), skirt (Vivienne Tam, consignment), shoes (Friis and Company, gift from L), earrings (Aldo Accessories), necklace (consignment), ring (Dad's, vintage 1960s).

  1. I've been reading your blog for awhile and never commented before. But, being a cat lady myself, I just had to tell you I'm so so sorry for your loss. My cat (Murphy) passed away a few months ago & I know how hard it can be. Othello was a beautiful cat & I'm sure he had a very happy and loving home with you.

  2. I have read many blogs throughout the years and cannot remember any photo evoking genuine tears as this. His sweetness radiates even via this electronic box.

    Hugs to you.

  3. Sheila, I've been thinking of you and Othello. I know you gave Othello a great life, and that is the best we can do for our little furry family members. Keep your chin up. There are lots of people out here thinking of you!

  5. You faked it well with these great colors. And this is the first I've heard of a zippered slit! (Wow! You've got to be careful when you "say" that.)

Shoes in the last two posts have been mah-vel-ous.

I know I can't come close to sharing your sadness re. Othello. But I DO know you gave him a good life!

  6. Sheila - I am so so sorry for his passing. The final photo is a great one. He seems to be saying "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeVille".

  7. Hi, Sheila!

I always read your blogs ever since and this is the first time that I'd post a comment. I feel the loss... Like you, I also love cats and right now I have 3 (if none died and got lost, I would probably have 33).

Othello is such a darling and I'm sure he had a happy life having you and L as "parents".

  11. I'm very sorry. My dog was put to sleep a few weeks ago (at age 14), and I know it is heartbreaking. After a few weeks you may start to remember him as he was before he got ill, and that helps.

    Your outfit is beautiful.

  17. Sheila, I teared up when reading your post today. I'm so sorry for your loss. And I just want to say how wonderful of an owner you are to make that difficult choice to take him to the vet for that final visit. I've always felt that even though it's harder on us as owners, that it can be the kinder choice for the animals who rely on us for everything. And now I am all teary eyed again. *hugs*

  18. I'm sorry you had to part with your Othello ... I'm another cat lady with a gorgeous red maine coon and a street kitty ... they're my other children and fill my life with as much love and laughter as my human children. Big hugs to you

  19. I teared up when reading your post today. It tugs at my heart strings. I know it must have been so hard to do, but what a good pet-mom you are to take Othello for a final vet visit once you realized it would be the best thing for him. You are a strong, loving woman. *hug*
