Casual Friday: Versace Mom Jeans and a Dries Tee

Oh, I am so happy it is Friday. I woke up feeling sick, coughing and feeling tight in my chest. I am happily dosed up to the eyeballs with druuuuuugs (the legal kind), so I'm pretending I am not sick.
I don't see no sicky here! I went for super-relaxed and casual so that I really wouldn't have to think too much about what I had on today.

  • Top - Dries van Noten, thrifted; first worn here with a finned skirt in October 2017
  • Jeans - Versace, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in May 2017 for another Casual Friday
  • Shoes - Miista; last worn here just last week (in January!) with a leather dress and fruital
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last seen here in December 2017

The last time I wore this Dries van Noten top, I layered a now-gone blouse under it. This time I just did a camisole for extra warmth, and I liked the look much better.
Those spiky black things on the front are all beads, all stitched on by hand.

The print is pixelated, and the fabric itself has shiny/dull pixels woven into it. Dries is very hands-on with his fabrics - I really appreciate that attention to detail.
These jeans are my fabulous Versace mom jeans - they are fully sewn in gold lame (lah-MAY, darling!), and all the rivet-points are gold and crystal Medusa heads. I am totally hiding them today.

Outerwear - it was raining this morning, so soft and comfy warm pieces for me.
By the time I came home, it was clear and light (not quite sunny, though). The weather's changeable this time of year.

  • Fur scarf/leather gloves - Danier

The stuff:
These shoes are suffering from the Curse of Metallic Shoes - they scuff easily. I have fixed them a few times with bronze modelling paint, but they keep on scuffing. Ah, well. At least they are comfy!

Copper bling:
I'd originally intended to wear copper shoes, but my feet said, "NO."

  • Cuff - Renoir, vintage 60s, Grandma J's
  • Bracelet/earrings - Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair

I have many exciting things planned this weekend, and I don't intend to let a little thing like a cold or the flu keep me from doing them! I'll be back on Sunday (before the Super Bowl) with a recap of all the adventures! Happy weekend, my friends!

  1. I always feel kind of chuffed when you're wearing one of your Dries Van Noten pieces. After all, he was one of the famous Antwerp Six back in the 1980s. So, obviously, I am loving your top, which is quite a statement piece, with its pixelated print and hand-sewn beads. Ordinary jeans would have been perfect with it, but your Versace jeans are even better, of course. And that's what you call casual! Here's to a great weekend full of adventures! xxx

    1. I know! I've become a huge fan of Dries since I first read about him and found one (or four!) of his pieces. I even saw a documentary about him! Thank you so much, Ann!

  5. Golly, so you really have been sick for some time eh? By the time I'm playing catch up again, hopefully this will all be long forgotten.
Well done with your "I'm not sick" attitude and easy to wear outfit - handled like a pro!

  6. Dries and Versace never looked so good together...
A few weeks ago i saw a pair of Versace jeans at a consignment shop and thought of your pair, however it was too small for me.
