Chill Weekend: Some Clothes, Some Shopping

We've finally had a break in the weather - even a bit of rain has fallen. Good news, for sure.
However, it's still lovely and warm out - this calls for a Hawaiian dress, don't you think?

  • Dress -  Tori Richard of Honolulu for Andrade of Honolulu, vintage 70s, Joyce's; last seen here last July 2014 for a Monday at work
  • Sandals - La Canadienne, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) last weekend for a jaunt to the Ulty field

Not enough people for Ulty this weekend, so L and I just went for lunch. It rained heavily and briefly while we were out and about - we got soaked! It felt great, and smelled wonderful. I love that rain smell in the summer.
Such a cool dress! Oh, and yes, my hair is REALLY purple again. A little girl at Floyd's wanted to touch it. I'll be wearing scarves and high necklines this week to hide the purple stain that leaked onto my neck. Heh.

The stuff:
My shoes are all wet there.

  • Scarf - Vera, thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

We basically chilled out with Vizinni all weekend.
"What? You mean I have to put up with you both all day?"
Today, I strolled to town to get groceries.
Bangs down to hide the dye lines - that stain does a number on one's skin.

This whole outfit is basically a repeat of this one here (3rd down, after my punk princess look) from May, which is when I last wore all of it.

  • Shirt - Dept, consignment
  • Skirt - Noa Noa
  • Boots - 1883 Lucchesse; consignment

It turned out to be way too hot for long sleeves and boots.

It became very difficult to get the boots off!
Mental note: boots are not good in hot weather.

I went to the Patch and took a poke around. I found this tweed wool dress for $22.95.
It's by Zara and isn't lined (gah) so I'll have to wear a slip with it, but the cut is good on me, as is the neckline.

I also caved on this mint green pencil skirt. The dots are woven in light gold.
It's by J. Crew (from Spring '09) and was $14.95.

Gotta love a nice leather belt.
This classic Esprit belt was only $9.95.

I might have also popped into local store Head Over Heels. (linking here 'cause I love)
Cool grey metal earrings by local company Glee.

Yeah, I fell hard for these gorgeous creatures.
Oh my, yellow Italian suede, is-it-grey-or-is-it-brown leather, sling back shoes of wondrousness!

These are by Grotesque (link here - I've never heard of them before), a Dutch company - their shoes are handmade - Head Over Heels is the only Canadian distributor (so they told me). Here's my shoe (linking 'cause I love).
Looking forward to wearing these - but I need to clean up my pedicure first!

Hope you all had a fab weekend!

  2. Don't worry about your toes - people will be too busy looking at your head and that fabulous purple hair! And I love that Hawaiian dress. I'm jealous of your heavy rain. Here it's been all bluster and with little follow-through.

  3. Your hair looks fantastic!
I love to get caught in the rain too - and it gives me great curls. I had to check out the shoe website, and wow - full of awesome. the Brogues are TDF.

  4. Love the re-dyed purple hair! looks wonderful, even if the dye is a bit of a pain to come off your skin afterwards! Never would have known if you hadn't said anythign under the photos :)

I can't wait to see how you wear that Zara tweed dress! I have a very very similar dress (by French Connection) and it's in the donate pile at the moment as I just don't feel I wear it often enough. It's dry clean only, being wool, so I tend to wear it maybe once a year then it waits to go to the cleaners! It's a bit big for me to try wash by hand like I do with my other delicate pieces.

You're wearing that amazing vintage dress again and check out all of your new finds, which I would have also bought.
You know I am wondering do you ever take Vizzini out?

  9. Ah, that Hawaiian dress is fabulous on you! Those vintage cotton dresses are killer in hot weather, so comfy. I 'specially love the J. Crew skirt. That color always makes me look pink, lol, but it's such a refreshing shade, like mint ice cream.

I love it that you too enjoy getting caught in the rain. Some people act so terrorized by mere water! I think we're a rare type or something.

  10. Yay for freshly coloured hair! Mine fades so fast in the summer, but I can't afford to get it done more often and I'm afraid to do it myself.

Purple and green is one of my favourite colour combinations - gorgeous dress!! The shoes are awesome - wish I could wear heels.
