Revenge of Dress Week! Yellow and Stained Glass

I haven't done a Dress Week since August 2010! That's outrageous! And so, without further ado, I bring you...
The Revenge of Dress Week! Thrills! Shock! Suspense! Scarves! (kudos to Audi for the title suggestion!).

Yes, scarves! I have a bunch of scarves that I've bought over the last few months and I never wear them, so all this week, I will be wearing scarves in various ways with my dresses.

Today: Blinding yellow! I gasped when I saw this gorgeous true yellow Calvin Klein dress in the racks at Winners. Isn't the colour amazing? And the cut? The length? I love everything about it and I'm so glad it fit!

It was $69.99, which is more than I've spent on a dress for nearly a year, but I love it so much. It's fully lined, and is made of cotton with a bit of Lycra for stretch. It has beautiful horizontal seaming from hem to neckline.

The outdoor shot:
Ah, that's the real colour. I added the skinny belt, although it didn't really need it - I just wanted to break up the expanse of yellow.

The stuff:
The scarf was $6.50 in a thrift store. It's 100% silk and is a lovely mix of colours. I pulled out the greens to go with the ring. You can also see the seams in the dress better there.

A close-up:
Birds! I felt very Spring-y.

A better look at the scarf:
It's like a stained glass window, which is what I am sure it is patterned after. I love all the bright colours.

I always look for a name on silk scarves and this did not disappoint:
Only from my favourite NYC museum ever! Museums have the best gift shops for good quality scarves and jewelry.

Dress (Calvin Klein), shoes (Feet First, thrifted), scarf (Metropolitan Museum of Art, thrifted), belt (Bianca Nygard), earrings/ring (Lavishy).

  1. I'm glad you went with the belt - somehow it breaks up the blinding yellow, but makes it more bold because of the contrast. Does that make sense? Probably not. Ugh... maybe I need sleep! In any event, I love it!

  4. Ohmygoodness this is wonderfully perfect. That dress looks like it was tailor made for you - so it was well worth it. I agree the belt helps to break things up, especially such a super bold yellow.

I'm taking notes this week. The only way I feel confident wearing scarves is in my hair, so hopefully I'll learn something.

  6. Wow, Sheila, you look beautiful in yellow! And your accessories are grand: that scarf looks like a little treasure. The dress was well worth the investment, and looks like it cost five times that price.

  10. Ha -- I was just wondering when you were going to do another dress week! What a fabulous way to kick it off; the yellow color is terrific. Coincidentally, last weekend I scored a tomato red Calvin Klein dress at Goodwill, and I can't wait to wear it.

  11. That's a gorgeous dress !
I stay away from yellow because I tend to think it will make my skin look greener than it already is.... however
you rock this beauty ! You look fabulous in it and the scarf is the perfect accessory.
I look forward to your dress week, if I was home i'd join you and even take out my scarves.

  15. Sorry so late to Revenge of Dress Week! Had I only known... no matter. A note on the scarf: I think it might be a Tiffany stained glass window pattern. The Metropolitan Museum had (or maybe still has?) a Tiffany window exhibit.

  16. Tat, thank you! I love red and yellow together.

Tessa, no worries, thank you for reading! You might be right on the scarf, I know the Met does gifty items that match its exhibits. Thank you for pointing that out!
