3rd Capsule Wardrobe Challenge - Day 1

And here we are at Day 1!

Today, I thought I was going to have to sit down with a lawyer, so I dressed conservatively: Okay, stop laughing! That's conservative for me.

I'm doing the patterned tee, the green lace skirt, the white jacket, the boots and...
... my accessory pieces are the belt, one of the necklaces, the bracelet and the earrings.

A close-up of the jewelry:
I just got my hair cut tonight, so forgive the helmet head. It will be back to its messy self tomorrow.

I doubled up the green bead/chain necklace to a two-strand - double duty out of one piece!

Although this outfit has quite a lot of sparkle (the skirt, the gems on the tee, the bracelet and earrings), the jacket, belt and boots knock those stars back down to earth. I kind of like the safari-meets-glam look of this.

I'm including this picture because this is how I planned my outfits for the week:
I put together a bunch of outfits and took pictures of them. I uploaded them and then decided what I'd wear on what day. You can see that I've included the bracelt on the sleeve of the jacket, the doubled-up necklace and I even wrapped the belt around the jacket so I'd remember how to wear it.

Click here for my full list of items, info on them, and pictures of the individual pieces.

  3. Love the skirt and blazer with the brown accents! Your hair is not that helmet-y, but I know how you feel.

  8. Thanks, Megan! I had to plan so that I didn't accidently repeat an element (layered items or same combination of things).

    Wendy - it's shiny too!

Jane, thanks! I always love these challenges.

    Thanks, Alison!

Thanks so much, Sak - and welcome! Thank you for commenting. :)

Thanks, Kasmira - heck, I've worked hard to get that waist small. I'm showin' it off!

Kristen, thanks! I love ivory (not so much white).

  9. I love how that sparkly skirt is a "conservative" piece for you. You blend funky or dressy items with your more businesslike clothes so seamlessly.

  10. Kari, it's funny, I would NEVER have worn this skirt to work before I started this blog. It would have languished in my closet waiting for a "special occasion" and never been worn. Thanks so much!
