Goodbye, Yellow Tweed Shoes

Gah, I did not want to go back to work today. I was sneezing and hacking and generally looking at my coworkers and going, "Guh. Sheila sick."
However, I'm feeling like the worst of it is over, or perhaps I'm just being optimistic because I have a fabulous weekend planned, and being sick is not part of it!

  • Sweater - Gap, thrifted; first worn here a couple of weeks ago with the last of the floofy skirt
  • Skirt - BB Dakota, consignment; last seen here in March 2016 with origami
  • Shoes - Poetic Licence; last worn here in November 2016 with some animals
  • Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted

I had quite a different outfit planned today, but the jacket didn't work (in the giveaway pile), then I didn't have a jacket to wear with the top and skirt that looked right, so I changed the skirt to this one, then I needed a different top, and then I said, "F**K IT, I am done."

I was pretty happy with this outfit overall, even with all that Drama (DRAMA!) in the morning. The only things that didn't change were the jewelry and the shoes.

I was happier with this shiny blue top this time around. Did not like the last outfit (hence, the "outta here" skirt in it).
I love this bright yellow skirt! You know whenever I'm wearing yellow, it's because I'm sick. Yellow makes me feel better. Fact.

Outerwear:
Yup, it's cold again. I'm a delicate f**king flower, make this winter stop, please. Yikes, they are forecasting "wet snow" for the weekend. Nooooo...

Anyway, back to this lovely warm jacket, and my fur toque/scarf and leather gloves (all Danier).

The stuff:
These shoes are gone. I look at them, and I don't want to wear them. They are a little high, plus I just don't wear the autumn colours like I used to (it's the purple hair). They don't ring my bell. I hear all of you protesting out there, but like me, if you miss them, you can always look at the pictures. That's a definite upside of blogging all one's clothes.

Let us bid "adieu" to these lovely yellow shoes, and look at their history with me. In addition to today, and the "last worn" noted above, I wore them:

  • In December 2015 with mustard and brown/navy tweed, here;
  • In February 2015 with pale yellow and the same tweed skirt, here
  • In November 2014 with Kim Cattrall's suit jacket, here (2nd outfit);
  • In November 2013 with rust and cobalt, here; (that's my favourite outfit with them)
  • And first worn just after I purchased them new here in October 2013 - it's the 4th outfit (ugh, that first outfit is so hideous! Scroll past it quickly!)
I bought them with birthday money from my mother-in-law. I'm sure they were around $200, and I only wore them 7 times. Not good. Ah, well. Ya live and learn.

Boho bling:

First wear of my new-to-me necklace - loved it, although it liked to twist up a bit. Don't the earrings match well?

This week's nail polish is a slightly matte frosted yellow:
No idea how old that polish is! This colour is a little streaky and it's showing chips already (grrr). I might have to redo them for the weekend!

  1. Oh I like those shoes, but if they aren't working for you any more you're right it's best to let them go. Although in saying that I still haven't tackled my shoe-drobe...I have a shoe rack by the door with some on it (as I don't have a shoe-loving cat!) and I'm rotating through them and ignoring the boxes upstairs. A sign I should get organised and get rid of the ones that no longer work I think!

Hope you continue to feel better quickly!

    1. I know, they are cool shoes, but they just don't work for me anymore. I hope this inspires you to weed out some shoes, Mica! Thanks!

  2. The healing powers of yellow. Yes. I hear you. Especially when there's an emergency: a good weekend coming up! Hahaha. I hope you feel better. I didn't realize there was wet snow headed our way. Just when you think you're safe...?! I'll join you in that flower garden. Stay warm, Sheila. I hope you feel better SOON.

    1. Yellow is such a good colour for zinging things up! I hope the wet snow was just an aberration. Thanks, Mel!

  3. Love the shoes but you don't...

It is a cheerful outfit, Sheila, yellow is such a sunny colour and the skirt and shoes were a particularly good match.

Hopefully you'll be back to normal for the weekend!

    1. It's okay - they will go to a good home. The shoes and the skirt aren't an exact match anyway. I hope so too - thank you, Veronica!

  4. Love all the yellow in the outfit, which cheered me up no end. I had a good chuckle at the DRAMA, as it really resonates with me. How I hate it when a planned outfit doesn't work! Shame about the shoes, but I'm sure there will be someone out there who will love them. xxx

    1. Me too, yellow is the best. It doesn't happen often with me, but when an outfit goes sideways, it is always DRAMA. I know the shoes will go to a good home.

  5. A pop of yellow really works wonders for me too. Sorry you're still feeling under par and hope that your next post will tell a different story.
I understand about the shoes. Yes, they look fab, but what's the point if you don't love 'em? You have so many other pairs of wonderful shoes that will keep you going until you find a replacement.
    Take care x

    1. Yellow is a miracle colour - I'm getting better. I knew you'd understand. There are just too many other great shoes out there!

  6. I hate it when that happens, you think you have a perfect outfit and suddenly you're running around like a headless chicken trying to make something work.
Hope you are feeling better and I love seeing your nails in funky colors.

    1. Yes, it doesn't happen to me very often, either - I know my clothes and style really well, so when this does happen, I get pretty flustered! Am feeling better, thank you, my dear!
