"I Know" Star Wars Shoes

And right back on that horse we go, swapping out things that don't work quite right for things that do.
Ah, much better. Dang, I need a haircut!

  • Blouse - Le Chateau, thrifted; last seen here (4th outfit) in March for our anniversary trip to Vancouver
  • Skirt - J. Crew, thrifted; last worn here in September 2015 with much shiny
  • Shoes - Irregular Choice "I Know"; gift from Louise this past weekend, and worn here as well
  • Jacket (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn a couple of times on the weekend here

I loved this blouse in the March capsule - it's really a nice colour and cut, and I like the faux leather trim and the snap detail on the arms and back.

It's funny - when I got this skirt back in July 2015 (I've only worn it one other time - here - aside from the above link) I really struggled with what to wear with it. I tried it with peach, cream and gold. Not very imaginative.

When I looked at it last night, while deciding what skirt to pull into my capsule, I immediately started putting it with the blues and greens and pinks that are dominating my colours right now. And look at that. It works! I loved it with this bright saturated blue.
I'm also happy that it still fits, although it's a smidge big. I can live with it. It's so shiny!

I wore my fluffy coat again as outerwear.
I am completely gaga for this coat. Long coats...love 'em.

The stuff:
When I first posted the pictures of these shoes on the weekend, I totally neglected to mention the name of them - they are called "I Know", after one of the most iconic Star Wars moments (from The Empire Strikes Back). Click here (YouTube short clip) for a refresher.

I saw the original movies when I was 9, 12 and 15. In this movie, the romance between Han and Leia captured my 12-year-old heart, and because we didn't have VCRs then - it was well over a decade before I finally saw the movies again - I owned (and still own) the paperback version.
Original 1980 paperback! Wiki link here
I had a moment of panic when I couldn't find it in our library, but we'd kept all of our SW books together (L and I both owned "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" when we met - it was fate), at the end of the regular fiction.

As you can see, I've had my copy for a long time. I am no longer much of a Garfield fan.
There are also still books with unicorn bookplates in my collection, I admit it. Also Beatrix Potter bookplates.

I haven't read this book in years, and I am nonplussed that it does not have the famous line, Han's cocky "I know." What the?

Edit: Thanks to reader Gai for informing me that Harrison Ford ad-libbed the "I know" line and it worked so well they kept it. This book was based on the story/screenplay, so this is how it was originally supposed to be (and I like it just as much as the classic line).
I happen to know that this is page 179.
Whoa! That is some seriously cheesy melodrama. This does not stop me from embracing it wholeheartedly. I do love romance.

Romantic bling:
Not surprisingly, my shoes were a huge HUGE hit in the office and at my WW meeting. I giggled all day that I was wearing something so marvelous and showed them to everyone with glee.

  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

It's so amazing that a piece of clothing can give you so much happiness.

  1. Hans Solo's famous line was an unscripted, of-the-moment Harrison Ford creation. It worked, so they kept the take.

  2. I am completely gaga for your fluffy coat too....

Love the shoes. I took my children to see the Star Wars movies first time around!

Like the minty (?) green and rich blue together - beautifully echoed on your earrings.

    Have a great weekend!

  3. How cool that you have the book! I had never seen a copy.
Of course you know I love the shoes and I totally agree on how garments can make your day.

  4. Wow, I don't even remember the Star Wars story, if you can believe it. Shameful! I like that you have the book. Yes, this colour combo looks great together. Glad your shoes were a Topic at work - there are too good to go unnoticed.

  5. The green skirt is so lovely and I'm glad you found a great top to wear with it. I can imagine that your shoes would have caused quite a stir, as they so rightly ought to. Am afraid I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but enjoy the merits of these shoes none the less x
