Neutrals or Patterns?

Another really hot day today, but it's supposed to cool off again tomorrow - back to "proper" spring temperatures, finally!
However, the heat did allow me to wear this awesome top, so I ain't complainin'.

  • Top - Jones New York, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here in January with the attack of the yeti coat
  • Jacket (below) - Comrags, thrifted; last seen here (4th outfit) on Monday
  • Pants - Pariscope, vintage, thrifted; last seen here earlier this month with chartreuse
  • Sandals - Eject; last worn here a couple of weeks ago with bright citrus

It was warm enough in the office that I did bare arms all day. I truly love this beautiful beaded top - even the back is fully beaded!
And since I'm doing a neutral top, let's pair it with a neutral bottom. Yes, these pants are neutral. Black and cream with a touch of olive - that's neutrals! But yes, that's some substantial pattern mixing there, isn't it?

I wore this black jacket basically to cover my arms and tattoos from the sun while walking to and from work, and to and from our other office.
"Too hot! Too hot!"
I'm having a major flash just looking at all that! Would you wear this outfit, or is it too much?

The stuff:
These are sort of neutral, aren't they? Okay, maybe not - but I liked how they worked with the hint of green in the pants.

  • Earrings - consignment; just purchased here on the weekend for $14.99

I'm hiding in in the den with Vizzini while the cleaner does her thing. Off to visit blogs!

  1. This whole outfit is class all the way. I do love those shoes!
We often get a burst of heat at the beginning of Spring where we all freak out, but then it settles for a while.

  2. Love. I think olive green is a neutral, as it looks good with almost any other color.

  3. I would wear this outfit,
just not the shoes, my little feet would not stand these heels. I'd wear black flats.
I think the black jacket was a perfect addition.

    1. These are a 1.5" heel, Lorena! Not high at all - don't be fooled by the platform and the false "high" heel!

  4. Decided it was time to start commenting on your posts, especially for those with outfits I hugely admire, instead of being a silent receiver of stylin' delight! So, would I wear this outfit? ABSOLUTELY! I would wear the entire outfit from top to bottom, and I think the ensemble becomes you. I like the meshing/mixing of patterns, the colors all go with one another, and you rock the combo! I like the "put togetherness" of the pieces and quasi-tailored look, but still packed with pow due to the patterns, beaded top, and funky sandals. Seriously, I have day dreamt about asking if you'd take me shopping with you if I ever make it to your home town! (I live about 25 miles north east of New York City.) Anyway, that's how much I enjoy your outfits and your blog and your humor. :-) Cheers, Laurie

    1. Well, hooray, and so happy to have you, Laurie! If you ever make it out to Victoria (way over on the West Coast, plus on an island), I would love to take you for lunch and shopping!

  5. I love this outfit, Sheila. Excellent neutral palette. Hahaha! It was 25C when I checked yesterday - no wonder I felt hot. Plus it was foggy - the pot haze over on the beach. Your capsule is taking you through everything nature is throwing at us lately.

  7. Golly, I'd wear that outfit without a doubt! Love the pattern mixing, and that top is so sweet. The shoes are edgy and just add a final wow to the ensemble. Totally fab x

  8. The temps spiked this week here, too. Tony said it was 28 at one point yesterday after. Even by Okanagan standards, that's pretty toasty for April. Fortunately, I adore the heat, though my sweet hubby (despite being a native son of Italy) really doesn't, so he's a happy camper that things are much cooler so far today.

Great outfit! I especially dig your chic + fun checkered pants.

    Big hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

  10. Heavens, I'd wear this outfit in a heartbeat - it's wonderful. The detailing on the top is fabulous. I wouldn't have necessarily thought to have paired the top and trousers but my, they really look great together and has given me some ideas so thank you!

Hope the temperatures have cooled for you now.
