Lazy Monday - Blue Brocade

Well, it's not really a lazy outfit, since I actually had to dig around and find things that went together. Today's outfit features my new skirt and shoes purchased just after Christmas with gift money (hurray for my mother-in-law!):
I got the shoes for $30 (thirty bucks!!) on clearance - they are leather and are trimmed in turquoise.

The skirt has the label cut out - and yet, it's new. This is a sample piece for buyers that may never have gone into production - the label is removed because a few stores in town carry this brand and probably have some sort of exclusive on it. I fell in love with the gorgeous brocade and colours - so rich!

The stuff:
Ooh, the shoes! Ooh, the fabric! It's sort of a blue-black background and the flowers have a lot of green in them along with the predominant teal.

The necklace is vintage. I bought it several years ago, along with a matching bracelet (not worn today), as a reward to myself for getting a new job. The job didn't last. The beads are bakelite. I made the earrings out of the smallest hanging bits off the necklace.

A close-up:
Cool, eh? No idea what era it is.

Sweater (Uniqlo, consignment), camisole (RW & Co.), jacket (Pelican Cove, consignment), skirt (Taylor Brooke by Quantum Apparel, gift), shoes (Pink Studio, gift), earrings/necklace (vintage).

  1. Ah, Bakelite. Have you ever read about the Bakelite family? Total LUNATICS. Good to read about. Anyway, I love the necklace and the skirt is the most luscious color. Excellent ensemble!

  3. Wow, what a beautiful skirt! And the shoes… and the necklace!
I like the fact that in most of your outfit, you wear a belt over jackets, sweaters and cardigans. You have inspired me! I’m going to try to belt my outfits more.

  6. OOOOOOOooooo!!!! That skirt is just beautiful and the shoes, wow! I love that the shoes have a vintage feel. Really pretty jewelry too. How fun is that. I just got some new to me booties too. A friend cannot wear high heels any longer and gave me 3 pairs of her booties. So fun, I just had to tell someone.

  10. Julia, no, I haven't - they sound highly entertaining, though! Thanks so much!

Wendy - next time I'm in NYC, honey, I'm looking you up!

Thanks, Aradia! This jacket actually ties at the front, but yeah, I do like belts. For so long, I was too heavy (or thought I was) to wear them, so I love wearing them now.

Tanya, you're so sweet! Thank you!

    Thanks, Rebecca!

Alison, isn't it gorgeous? I am a sucker for a patterned skirt. Yes, I love that the shoes look vintage too. Oooh, what a great friend! That's awesome!

    Thanks, Sal!

Lorena, it's so pretty, isn't it? I can't wait to see your Fluevogs!!

TexNYQueen, I totally agree! Go special or go home! Thank you so much, and thank you for commenting!
